About the role
Talent Run is seeking a General Manager to run a key business within the broader group of companies that specialises in complex remediation and recovery projects.
Owning customer success and bottom-line earnings, the General Manager has the opportunity to shape the future success of an established business and build a high-functioning, hihg-achieving team.
Achieving monthly and yearly site start targets at target margins, in selectively identified markets, working with the sales team
Achieving overall targets against timeframes, cost and quality
Successful people management within the business
Development and management of business wide systems and processes that align with overall business objectives
Delivering a sustainably profitable financial result
Delivering an outstanding customer experience and fielding all escalations as required
Key responsibilities
Strategy & interdepartmental leadership
Maintain and communicate clear strategic direction for the financial year, ensuring all teams are aligned and empowered to make decisions that support.
Provide structured strategic insights for the continuous improvement of the segment’s process, people and culture.
Together with the Finance Team, develop and implement accurate budget and/or forecasts, setting appropriate forward looking operational and financial expectations.
Business Performance & Financial Management
The growth and profitability of the business, ensuring budgets / targets are achieved.
Prepare and present the segment’s monthly reports to:
support business activity with focus on exception reporting and calls-to-action
provide updates on strategic priorities.
Endorse job margins at contract stage and monthly while jobs are onsite
Manage working capital provide monthly activity reporting against targets for both pre-site and on-site activities
Leadership and Team Empowerment
Provide inspiring leadership, encouraging innovation and creativity
Identify and drive success across the segment
Collaborate with other departments, allowing cross department problem solving
Customer Management
Drive a non-compromising customer service excellence culture ensuring all activities are carried out with optimal customer service
Understand customer sentiment to improve customer service levels and engagement
Provide ultimate support to clients when issues escalates
Leadership & Management
Provide inspiring leadership, encouraging innovation and creativity.
Drive the team toward a values driven, high performance culture where we strive to be the ‘best at what we do’
Manage resources to maximise production and efficiency margins
Key requirements
15 + years of construction experience, 5+ years owning both the customer and bottom-line earnings results
Experience owning a P&L within a Tier 2 or 3 business or business unit
Ability to coordinate and implement business strategies & tactics
Experience in leading a diverse team of professionals coupled with maintaining a strong workplace culture & team morale
Relevant tertiary / post graduate qualifications
