Requirements
* Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
* Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries and Fingerprints (Tier 1).
* Type of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
* Estimated Period of Performance: 30 June 2026 – May 2027.
* Estimate Pay: $65.00 per hour.
Working Hours
The Research Psychology/Industrial Organizational Psychology will work remotely, Monday through Friday from 07:00 am to 4:00 pm Eastern Time, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, except on Federal holidays. The Research Psychology/Industrial Organizational Psychology will not work more than 40 hours a week.
Summary of Duties
The Research Psychology/Industrial Organizational Psychology is intended to expand consultation and research capabilities, thereby improving the ability to assess, monitor, train, and treat airmen in high-risk, high-demand career fields throughout their lifecycle, with a focus on readiness, health, and performance. This effort addresses aero-medically relevant issues regarding performance enhancement interventions affecting performance and adaptation to aircrew, intelligence, remotely piloted aircraft, cyberwarfare, special duty, and senior leadership duty positions within the United States Air Force (USAF).
Qualifications
* Master\'s degree specializing in Research Psychology, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or a related Psychology discipline.
* Have expert knowledge with at least 5 years of experience in database development, gathering and organizing data supporting analyses for a wide range of analytical procedures, research report writing, and developing actionable recommendations for improving human performance based on research.
* Have at least 5 years of experience designing and conducting statistical data analysis using software such as JMP, SPSS, R, etc.
* Have at least 5 years of experience with developing products, presenting research outcomes (e.g., statistical results and interpretations), to include professional presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and/or technical reports.
* Have at least 5 years of experience engaged in administrative management with regard to study design, methodology, and dissemination of results regarding empirically based human performance research studies.
Highly Desired Qualifications
* A doctoral degree (or Master\'s degree plus 7+ years of relevant experience) specializing in Research Psychology, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or a related Psychology discipline is desired.
* Experience with human performance and behavioral science research within the Department of War (DoW) is desired.
* Experience developing and administering comprehensive, validated psychological instruments via mobile and web-based capabilities is desired.
* Experience as an author of publications in peer-reviewed journals or official USAF/DoW technical reports in behavioral science with regard to human performance and behavioral science research is desired.
* Certification in administering psychological assessments (e.g., NEO, Hogan, EQ-i) and providing individualized feedback is desired.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive study protocol, including hypothesis, methodologies, collection strategies, and overall statistical analysis of study data in consultation with USAFSAM/FESP professional staff.
* Provide customer leadership with relevant scientific literature review and data analyses, as well as participate in related discussions with USAFSAM/FESP staff.
* Confer with and advise USAFSAM/FESP professional staff regarding optimal statistical approaches to analyzing study data. Perform statistical analyses of study data using descriptive and inferential statistical procedures.
* Minimize threats to the validity of statistical products or online data repositories; maintain data in a secure fashion consistent with IRB protocol and safeguards. Maintain confidentiality of screening data, contents of technical reports, and presentation of data deemed sensitive and not releasable to the general public; complete the appropriate IRB paperwork and training requirements for conducting research.
* Prepare reports of scientific/statistical results in support of scientific literature publication, in coordination with USAFSAM/FESP and 711 HPW staff. The number of professional presentations, reports, and papers shall be verified based upon the relevance of research findings as they become available.
* Travel as needed to provide professional support, customer consultations, and research presentations at line leadership meetings and professional conferences.
* Work with USAFSAM/FESP personnel regarding personal limitations on travel scheduling; maintain communication with project personnel to facilitate teamwork and adhere to confidentiality and classification requirements in all forms of communication.
* Responsible for data management and coordinating processes with project team members, including acquisition, input, maintenance, electronic format products, and storage of all project data.
* Assist staff in the collection of assessment data, maintenance, and downloading into the project database; provide project operations support to aid USAFSAM/FES research activities and data acquisition.
* Shall arrange, facilitate discussions, and participate in research team meetings (including leading a weekly meeting) to ensure effective communication between research team members and achievement of project goals.
* Support additional USAFSAM/FESP-related investigations as required.
* Ensure compliance with IRB requirements and data security protocols; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
