Commercial and Procurement Capability Lead
Glic Recruitment is partnering with a consulting firm based in Canberra to appoint a senior leader to establish and grow a new Commercial and Procurement Capability within the firm. This is a strategic hire with long-term significance for the business.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Growth
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of commercial and procurement advisory work.
Drive business development activities, lead proposals, and win new engagements.
Position and mature the commercial/procurement service offering within the market.
Develop go-to-market strategies aligned to the firm’s broader growth plan.
Capability Leadership
Establish and scale a specialist team of procurement and commercial consultants.
Define skillsets, structure, and delivery frameworks for the capability.
Mentor junior and mid‑level consultants, fostering a high‑performance culture.
Client Delivery
Lead complex commercial and procurement consulting engagements.
Provide thought leadership on sourcing, contracting, risk, and commercial governance.
Advise senior client stakeholders across government and industry.
Skills and Experience
At least 10+ years in management consultancy, preferably with Big Four, mid‑tier, or boutique advisory firms. Prior experience at a Director or senior level strongly preferred.
Proven track record of delivering high‑value work, developing and leading proposals and growing a pipeline.
Experience leading and scaling a professional services team; recruiting, mentoring, and managing high-performing consultants.
Deep knowledge of procurement strategies, supplier negotiations, contract law, risk management, and category management.
Understanding of contract law, commercial legislation and compliance frameworks.
Excellent communication, influencing, and client‑management skills.
Bachelor's degree required; relevant postgraduate qualifications (e.g., MBA, Master of Laws, Master of Procurement, Chartered Accountant) or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS) preferred.
A background in commercial and procurement law (in‑house, private practice, or regulatory) is highly desirable.
