Senior Technical Advisory Manager (Solar, BESS, Wind & Hybrid Projects)
Quintas Energy is seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Advisory Manager to lead and deliver technical advisory services across solar, BESS, wind and hybrid renewable energy projects in Australia.
This role is hands‑on, client‑facing, and covers the full project lifecycle from early‑stage development through construction, and into operational due diligence and technical support. The successful candidate will act as a senior owner’s engineer, providing engineering leadership, design guidance, grid technical support, documentation development and overall technical governance across multiple projects.
This is a senior, multidisciplinary engineering role requiring strong project leadership, design oversight, reporting capability and commercial acumen.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Advisory & Owner’s Engineer Services
Provide independent technical advisory across solar, BESS, wind and hybrid projects.
Pre‑construction
Construction
Operational assets
Deliver technical assessments, gap analyses and identify project risks.
Lead Owner’s Engineer roles including design review, compliance checks, FAT/SAT inspections and contractor oversight.
Review, interpret and guide: electrical, civil and structural design; protection settings and philosophies; SCADA and communications design.
Ensure alignment with Australian Standards, NER requirements, Grid connection requirements (AEMO/NSP) and EPC/BOP technical specifications.
Grid Connection & Power Systems
Provide strong technical understanding of grid connection processes (AEMO, NSPs), Generator Performance Standards (GPS), modelling packages (PSSE, PSCAD preferred but not mandatory) and compliance requirements during commissioning and operations.
Support preparation or review of GPS packages, studies, and technical submissions.
Engage with NSPs, AEMO and specialist consultants.
Technical Documentation & Specifications
Write or review EPC specifications; BOP specifications; Owner’s Requirements; O&M requirements.
Produce high‑quality, client‑facing reports that are clear, structured and commercially appropriate.
Software Tools
Experience using PVsyst.
AutoCAD.
PVCase / RatedPower (preferred).
MS Office (high level).
Power modelling tools (advantage).
Project & Client Management
Manage client stakeholders, represent Quintas in meetings, and lead technical discussions.
Manage subcontractors and specialist consultants (grid, civil, structural, geotech, etc.).
Provide technical leadership and mentoring within the Advisory team.
Coordinate multi‑disciplinary project teams across internal departments.
Support Across Project Lifecycle
Early‑Stage Development / Pre‑Feasibility
Site assessment.
Layout optimisation.
Yield modelling.
Constraints analysis.
Capex/opex assumptions development with Commercial/Finance teams.
Construction
Assist with design finalisation.
Design/SLD reviews.
ITPs / FAT / SAT.
Progress monitoring.
Operations & Compliance
Support compliance investigations (GPS, NER, protection issues).
Skills & Experience
Must‑Have
Degree in Electrical Engineering (essential).
RPEQ or ability to obtain RPEQ (highly preferred).
7+ years experience in solar/BESS/wind technical engineering.
Strong understanding of Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000, 4777, 2067, etc.).
Strong understanding of grid connection process in Australia.
Experience writing EPC/BOP specifications.
Proven experience reviewing engineering designs and SLDs.
Experience dealing with EPC, OEMs and NSP/AEMO.
Excellent report writing and communication skills.
Strong commercial acumen and client management experience.
High‑Value Add (Bonus)
Experience in battery energy storage system design & commissioning.
Ability to use PVSyst, AutoCAD, PVCase, RatedPower.
Power systems modelling experience (PSSE/PSCAD).
Hybrid projects and microgrid experience.
