The Chair of Automation & Measurement at the Department of Product Engineering at the Technical University of Leoben is looking for a PhD researcher (full-time, 3 years) to join our exciting project MUTAVIA – Multimodal Tactile-Visual Robotic Grasping Systems for Industrial Applications.
🧠 What You’ll Do
* Research, design and prototype tactile sensors and advanced gripping technologies for next-gen robotic hands
* Develop and realize smart grasping systems that can sense, manipulate, learn & adapt
* Engage in research at the intersection of measurement and sensors, control engineering, automation, machine learning, and mechatronics
* Contribute to real-world applications like industrial automation, textile sorting, and humanoid robotics in industrial environments
Qualifications
🌟 What You Bring
* Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
* Solid background in robotics, mechatronics, sensors and measurement, and control systems
* Strong skills in MATLAB (C and LabVIEW is a plus)
* Excellent English, plus motivation, creativity & teamwork
Nice to Have
* Experience with electronics and sensor / actuator integration
* Knowledge of robot kinematics or dynamic control
* Familiarity with 3D design and rapid prototyping

* Fully funded PhD position (gross €3,714.80/month, 14x per year)
