About the Role
As an Investment Risk Senior Manager, you will report to the Head of Risk and Compliance Advisory and work closely with the Executive General Manager Investment Solutions and Governance. This is a second‑line risk professional role where you will be responsible for providing independent oversight and challenge to investment‑related activities. You will ensure our investment governance frameworks are robust, current, and align with regulatory expectations.
Your expertise will be crucial in monitoring and assessing the investment risk environment, advising on controls, mitigation strategies, and emerging risks across a broad range of investment classes, including retail, sophisticated, and wholesale investors.
Key Responsibilities
* Investment Risk Framework Development: Oversee and continuously improve investment risk and governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures. Design and implement risk assessment methodologies for investment products and services.
* Risk Advisory & Business Partnership: Provide proactive risk advisory support to investment teams, challenging proposals from a risk perspective and embedding a strong risk culture.
* Monitoring & Reporting: Advise on appropriate investment risk monitoring and reporting, prepare regular risk reports, track metrics, and identify emerging risks.
* Regulatory & Compliance Alignment: Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements (APRA, ASIC) and industry standards, monitoring developments and supporting reviews.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships across investment, product, and distribution teams, presenting risk matters to senior leadership and contributing to continuous improvement.
About You
You are a strategic thinker with significant experience in investment risk management, ideally within a Line 2 risk function. You possess a strong understanding of investment risk frameworks, various investment classes, and relevant regulatory requirements. You are adept at balancing robust risk oversight with pragmatic business partnership and are passionate about enabling business objectives within an appropriate risk appetite.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
* Significant experience in investment risk management, ideally within a Line 2 risk function.
* Strong understanding of investment risk frameworks, investment classes, and regulatory requirements.
* Experience working with investment products, platforms, or wealth management businesses.
* Proven ability to partner effectively with business units while maintaining independence.
* Tertiary qualifications in finance, risk management, or a related discipline.
Highly Regarded
* Professional certifications such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or FRM (Financial Risk Management) or graduate risk management qualifications.
* Knowledge of APRA, ASIC, and relevant regulatory requirements for investment platforms.
* Background working with managed accounts, investment menus, or investment research processes.
* Experience with private markets, alternative assets, and/or wholesale‑only products.
* An understanding of the risk and compliance needs of wholesale and ultra‑high net worth client segments.
* Experience in a trustee office role.
