We are seeking a Head of Risk Management to lead the design, implementation, and execution of the companys market surveillance and risk management frameworks in Europe.
This role is critical to ensuring fair, orderly, and transparent markets across digital asset trading activities. You will be responsible for detecting and preventing market abuse, overseeing real-time surveillance and investigations, and ensuring alignment with EU regulatory requirements, including MiCA.

Responsibilities
* Lead the market surveillance and risk management function for the company.
* Design and implement frameworks to detect market manipulation, wash trading, abusive behavior, and other suspicious trading activities.
* Oversee real-time surveillance tools, alerts, escalation processes, and investigation workflows.
* Ensure full alignment with EU regulatory requirements, including MiCA obligations related to market abuse, conduct, and risk.
* Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework covering operational, market, custodial, and counterparty risks.
* Prepare internal and regulatory reports on risk indicators, incidents, investigations, and mitigation measures.
* Monitor changes in trading behavior, market structure, and business activities to proactively identify emerging risks.
* Work closely with Compliance, Product, Technology, and Operations teams to ensure surveillance and risk controls evolve with the platform.
* Act as a key subject-matter expert on market integrity and risk governance.
Requirements
* University degree in Finance, Economics, Law, Risk Management, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in market surveillance, risk management, or compliance within financial institutions, trading platforms, or crypto exchanges.
* Strong understanding of EU market abuse frameworks and MiCA regulatory requirements.
* Hands-on experience with market surveillance tools, monitoring systems, and analytics platforms.
* Proven ability to lead investigations, make sound judgments, and manage sensitive risk issues.
* Strong leadership, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
* Fluency in English; German proficiency is strongly preferred.
* Based in Vienna or willing to relocate.
