Analytics Engineer (m/f/d) - AI & Business Intelligence at Finmatics
With Fin, the AI accountant, Finmatics simplifies, accelerates, and optimizes accounting processes. Instead of performing routine tasks manually, our software handles them reliably – for accounting professionals in Germany and Austria.
Our mission is to design, build, and deliver the trusted AI accountant for every accounting team in Germany and Austria to work smarter, faster, and with confidence.
As our Analytics Engineer, you are the central hub for our data. You are responsible for transforming raw data from our production systems into meaningful, reliable data models and dashboards. You will own the crucial "Transformation" layer of our new Google BigQuery data warehouse, translating business requirements from Product, Customer Success, and Management into performant SQL logic and insightful Looker Studio visualizations.
Responsibilities
* Data Warehouse Logic: Design and maintain our "One Big Table" architecture in Google BigQuery. Own logic for deduplication, window functions, and ensuring our "Single Source of Truth" remains accurate.
* AI-Native Workflow: Treat LLMs (ChatGPT, Gemini) as your junior developer. Prompt the AI to generate complex SQL transformations, validate logic, debug output, and ensure business accuracy.
* BigQuery Optimization: Responsible for query performance and cost control. Understand partitioning, clustering, and incremental build strategies (e.g., rolling windows) to keep cloud costs efficient.
* BI & Dashboarding: Take end‑to‑end ownership of dashboards in Looker Studio – from requirements gathering with management and customer success to technical implementation and maintenance.
* Data Quality & Debugging: Ensure data quality across denormalized data models. Proactively investigate anomalies, debug complex joins and window functions, and maintain consistency for KPIs.
* Documentation: Maintain our "Data Dictionary" and architectural guides to ensure future scalability.
Qualifications
* SQL Skills: Knowledge of SQL, ideally with experience in Google BigQuery.
* BigQuery Expertise: Experience with BigQuery specific features (partitioning, scheduled queries) and cost optimization.
* BI Experience: Proven experience building and maintaining BI dashboards. Looker Studio knowledge is a plus.
* Data Modeling Expertise: Solid understanding of data warehouse concepts, data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and query cost optimization.
* Tech Affinity: Capable of leveraging tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Julius.ai to accelerate development.
* Analytical Strength: Translate complex business questions into technical requirements and data logic.
* Languages: Fluent in German or English.
* Important: No traditional software engineering experience required; focus is on logic, transformation, and truth within data. AI is your best friend.
