Job Description
The Strategic Buyer is responsible for defined segments within the Wood category and shares operational and strategic accountability for all relevant aspects of these segments. Overall responsibility for the category remains with the Category Head.
In this role, the Strategic Buyer supports internal stakeholders in ensuring uninterrupted availability of materials and services, drives Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) reduction initiatives, and ensures the sustainability of achieved savings. In addition, the position entails professional supplier and category risk management.
Main Responsibilities
Act as a business partner to Sales, Production, Quality, Supply Network, and Technical departments
Develop, align, and execute Doka-wide material group strategies for the Wood category, ensuring security of supply, cost efficiency, and sustainability
Build strong market and supplier knowledge through continuous analysis of market, cost, and spend data
Identify internal customer needs and collaborate closely with stakeholders to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership of strategic commodities
Take end-to-end responsibility for supplier management, including supplier selection, evaluation, development, and risk assessment
Prepare, lead, and take ownership of price and contract negotiations with strategic suppliers
Draft, negotiate, conclude, and manage supplier contracts, ensuring contractual compliance and long‑term value creation
Ensure sustainable realization of savings and accurately record and communicate achieved savings
Perform professional category risk management, including supply, price, and sustainability risks
Manage and maintain spend data and master data in relevant systems, including SAP, to ensure data accuracy
Communicate category and supplier strategies to relevant internal partners
Qualifications
Graduate degree in economics, wood/forestry, or a comparable field
Graduates and candidates with relevant professional experience are welcome; experience in the timber or wood industry is an advantage
Fluent German and English skills (spoken and written); additional languages are an asset
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive and structured working approach
High level of negotiation skills and decision‑making capability
Ability to professionally represent the company externally with key stakeholders and suppliers
Willingness to travel approximately 20%

A salary in line with the market is offered for this position, which is based on the specific qualification and adequate professional experience.
We are required by law to state a minimum salary. The minimum annual gross salary for this position is 47.586,56 EUR according to the collective agreement (woodworking industry).
