Offer Description
We offer a PhD position at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna to evaluate vaccine efficacy against Chlamydia trachomatis using a newly developed porcine lung challenge model. C. trachomatis is a leading cause of infertility worldwide, yet no effective vaccine exists. This project overcomes limitations of genital infection models by establishing a lung-based model in pigs, allowing for robust monitoring of infection, immune response, and pathology. The candidate will help develop the model and assess vaccine efficacy through immunological and microbiological assays. This work will advance translational vaccine development using a physiologically relevant large animal model.
