The Center for Digital Safety & Security located in Vienna invites applications for an internship. Our experts develop cutting‑edge information and communication technologies to secure and ensure reliability in the context of digitalisation and global networking. Focus areas include distributed IT systems, the Internet of Things, cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence, blockchain, quantum & photonic technologies, wireless systems (6G), and digital solutions for crisis & disaster management.
The Computer Vision research field within our Competence Unit “Data Science & Artificial Intelligence” leads applied research on innovative computer vision applications and modern model design.
Responsibilities
* Work on 3D reconstruction algorithms (point clouds, Gaussian splatting) to record and reconstruct real environments on the fly.
* Implement a VR application to visualize the reconstructed environment and work on camera calibration techniques to register labels set in Mixed Reality glasses to the reconstructed mesh.
* Develop techniques to label damages in Mixed Reality.
* Gain practical experience with one of Austria’s leading research companies.
* Support international projects and gain insights into our technological environment.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree; currently enrolled in Master’s studies in Informatics, Software Engineering, Game Engineering, Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Visual Computing or a similar field.
* Very good knowledge of C++ and Python.
* Experience with point clouds and stereo cameras.
* Strong knowledge of efficient development on mobile platforms (ideal: experience with Nvidia Jetson boards).
* Good knowledge of camera calibration.
* Good knowledge of Unity3D.
* Interest in working in a multidisciplinary team and collaborating on different topics.
* Good verbal and written English skills (team language is English); German skills are a plus.
What To Expect
* Duration of the internship: 6 months.
* Start date: ideally November 2025, with some flexibility.
* Remuneration of €1,415 gross per month for 38.5 hours per week, plus company benefits and flexible working conditions.
