We are looking for a Senior Lecturer (Academic Teaching) at the Department of Government for 'Quantitative Methods and the Political System of Austria'.
The Department of Government, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, conducts research and teaches in the fields of comparative politics, Austrian politics, and quantitative methods. Particular areas of focus include political behavior, political institutions, elections, democracy, and representation.
As a Senior Lecturer, you will be responsible for academic teaching in the Political Science degree programmes for an average of 8 semester hours per week. Your tasks will include:
* Teaching courses independently for an average of 8 SWS per semester.
* Teaching in the areas of quantitative methods and the Austrian political system.
* Being involved in BA thesis seminars as well as substantive and research-oriented seminars at the MA level.
* Taking on administrative tasks, particularly in the administration of teaching.
* Keeping abreast of the latest scientific developments and participating in further didactic training, the exchange of experience between teachers and quality assurance measures.
We are looking for people who see university teaching as an interesting and challenging professional field. Requirements for application and admission include:
* Completed doctoral degree in Political Science or another relevant social science discipline.
* Several years of independent teaching experience at a post-secondary educational institution.
* Didactic competencies / experience in digital teaching and e-learning.
* Research and publication record.
* Excellent command of English and German (C1 level).
* IT and blended learning skills.
In addition, you should have:
* Several years of teaching experience in the field of quantitative methods.
* Several years of teaching experience in the field of the Austrian political system.
* Experience in preparing and conducting lectures and courses with continuous assessment.
* Strong social and communication skills.
* Flexibility, quickness to grasp new concepts, and openness to new ideas.
* Being well organized, conscientious, and enjoying teaching in a student- and competence-oriented manner.
