We are looking for an experienced scientist leading the development of ion-trap chips (ITCs) at SAL. You will become part of a highly motivated, international team committed to building up a European pilot line for realizing the building blocks of next generation quantum technology. Your work will be embedded in an international collaborative network.
Your tasks include:
* Coordination of ITC development and fabrication across different project partners, research units, laboratories, and cleanroom facilities.
* Establishment of infrastructure for testing and operation of ITC devices.
* Support and consultancy project partners in designing ITCs for technological advancement of ion trap chips.
* Contribute to design, simulation, fabrication, and characterization of new ion trap chips.
* Dissemination, communication, and reporting of research findings to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
* Coordination and alignment of activities with industrial and academic partners in the pilot line.
* Supervision of students.
* Activities in relevant networks.
* Project management.
* Project acquisition.

Your profile
* PhD in physics, quantum technology, electronics engineering, or similar.
* 3+ years of experience in trapped-ion quantum technology.
* Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing is an advantage.
* Experience in an industrial environment is an advantage.
* Proficiency in English. German or willingness to learn is an asset.
* Motivated team player with good communication skills.
* Personnel management experience is an advantage.
* Willingness to relocate to Austria/Villach.
* Willingness to travel.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group F (F1 salary = EUR 4,757,- paid 14 times a year, based on 38.5 hours per week). For this position, we offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications, starting with a minimum gross salary of EUR 70,000 (annual, based on an All-in contract and bonus).
