With a strong national presence across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, we are seeking an experienced Night Shift Operations Manager to lead and oversee our Victorian night operations.
This is a critical leadership role reporting to the VIC Transport Manager, responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and compliant transport operations across the night shift.
The Role
As the Victorian Night Shift Operations Manager, you will take ownership of all night transport activities, ensuring operational performance, safety compliance and service delivery standards are maintained at the highest level.
You will lead the night operations team, manage fleet utilisation, support drivers and proactively respond to operational challenges in a fast-paced port logistics environment. This role plays a key part in maintaining operational continuity between shifts and ensuring customer service commitments are consistently delivered. In addition, you will directly supervise night warehouse operations and serve as the primary escalation and contact point for all Victorian night shift operational matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all Victorian night shift transport operations across fleet, yard and driver performance.
* Manage approximately 25 drivers and 2 Fleet Allocators, providing leadership, support and performance oversight.
* Ensure all port container movements are completed efficiently and within required timeframes, including maximising two-way loading opportunities.
* Oversee yard operations including laydown management for pack and unpack activities and preloading of LCL trailers.
* Ensure all vehicles are prepared, positioned and loaded appropriately to support operational readiness for the following shift.
* Coordinate and manage RM asset placement ensuring equipment is positioned in allocated and planned locations.
* Maintain strong working relationships with PM customers and key stakeholders to ensure service delivery expectations are met.
* Manage time-slotting, scheduling and dispatch activities across the night shift.
* Ensure full compliance with HSE requirements, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations and company policies and procedures.
* Oversee driver performance, fatigue management and safe work practices.
* Proactively resolve operational issues to minimise disruption and maintain service delivery standards.
* Provide detailed operational reporting, shift summaries and handover updates to the VIC Transport Manager.
* Support broader operational objectives and elevate key risks or issues where required.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in a similar role as Transport Supervisor, Fleet Manager or senior transport leadership role.
* Strong understanding of port logistics and container transport operations.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Chain of Responsibility and transport compliance requirements.
* Experience leading drivers and coordinating shift-based operational teams.
* Strong decision‑making capability in time‑sensitive operational environments.
* Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and operational demands.
* Strong stakeholder and customer relationship management skills.
* Night shift leadership experience within a high‑volume logistics or port environment will be highly regarded.
