Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to support the company’s legal and regulatory framework within a fast-evolving Payments and Digital Assets platform. This role will be responsible for advising on regulatory requirements, ensuring legal compliance across products and operations, and supporting engagement with regulators.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in crypto/digital assets, payments or fintech and is pragmatic and commercially minded, and is comfortable operating in a highly regulated and rapidly changing landscape, particularly within the Austrian and EU regulatory framework.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Legal Advisory
Provide legal advice on applicable laws and regulations, including payments services, e-money, and crypto-assets Interpret and apply EU and Austrian regulatory frameworks (e.g. PSD2, MiCA, AML directives) to business activities Support regulatory licensing, passporting, and ongoing compliance requirements
Product & Commercial Support
Partner with product and business teams to provide legal guidance on new products and services Review and draft customer terms, product documentation, and disclosures Ensure legal compliance of payment flows, digital asset offerings, and platform features Support go-to-market strategies with practical, risk-based legal advice
Contracting & Transactional Work
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (e.g. partnerships, vendors, payment schemes, custody providers) Manage contract lifecycle and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements Support strategic partnerships, including fintech and crypto ecosystem participants
Regulatory Engagement & Governance
Support interactions with regulators such as the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) Assist w
