Organizational Setting
The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection". This programme supports activities in food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment, and radiation technologies, with laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco, and Vienna. Its goal is to enhance Member States' capacity to meet human needs and manage environments using nuclear and isotopic techniques.
The Division of Physical and Chemical Sciences assists Member States in research and development in nuclear sciences, including radioisotope production, radiation applications, research reactors, accelerators, nuclear data, controlled nuclear fusion, isotope hydrology, and geochemistry.
Main Purpose
To provide technical expertise in implementing NAPC's communication strategies, including drafting/editing documents, preparing outreach materials, organizing events, web content creation, stakeholder analysis, and supporting the Divisional Director.
Functions / Key Results Expected
* Develop outreach products like presentations, brochures, articles, project proposals, media kits, website content, and case statements.
* Research, draft, and edit texts for outreach materials such as flyers, exhibition materials, briefing notes, and press materials.
* Create stories and photo essays for the IAEA website, conduct and edit web video interviews, and support website development.
* Provide technical editing and proofreading for official documents and presentations.
* Advise on outreach activities, research images, draft outreach videos, and support event organization.
* Assist in organizing outreach events like workshops and press conferences.
* Support the Divisional Director's presentations and speeches.
* Build relationships with industry, NGOs, donors, institutes, and other entities, including international organizations.
* Follow up on activities and meetings with Member States and others.
* Perform additional tasks as requested by the Divisional Director.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Communication or related field.
* At least five years of experience in communication and outreach, preferably in the scientific or international community.
* Experience in the nuclear scientific community is an asset.
* Excellent command of English, both oral and written. Knowledge of other IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is a plus.
Remuneration
The daily fee is up to €350, depending on qualifications and experience. Travel and subsistence allowances are provided for duty travel. Health coverage and pension are the incumbent's responsibility.
