Your future responsibilities
SAL is looking for an experienced Business Developer, who will be responsible for the strategic and operational business development of the division Embedded Systems. This includes discovering and developing new business areas and sales markets, maintaining existing ones, and finding new customers and partners. You will be strongly engaged in promoting the SAL brand name and will represent SAL at national and international events. You will work closely with management, other business developers, and researchers of the division.
Your future tasks include:
* Acquisition of R&D projects for Embedded Systems with focus on Edge-AI / Embedded AI and RISC-V accelerator development (VLSI)
* Supporting the acquisition of R&D projects for other SAL divisions in collaboration with other business developers
* Researching strategic business opportunities and directions (incl. finding new markets)
* Co-developing the division's research strategy with senior researchers – you will provide current trends and expected developments in industry, identifying opportunities and challenges
* Key accounting for premium partners
* Developing & shaping service offerings for contract research with the team
* Liaising with Marketing/PR and researchers for marketing campaigns, updates to the division's website, planning conference visits and demonstrations
* Representing the division at events (internally, externally)
* Attending conferences, meetings, industry events
* Developing quotes and proposals for clients
Your profile
* Completed education in Engineering and/or Economics
* 5+ years of experience in a relevant industry (e.g. edge AI, embedded software, electronics) in Business Development, Sales, or Marketing
* Experience in project or team management and a proven track record in project acquisition and key account management
* Entrepreneurial, strategic mindset with experience in strategy development and a strong network in the Austrian and European ecosystem
* Fluency in German and English, with excellent communication skills
* Solid technical understanding of embedded software, machine learning, and microcontrollers, and awareness of industry trends and opportunities

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group F (F1 salary = EUR 4.757, paid 14 times a year) based on 38,5 hours per week). For this position we offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications, starting with a minimum gross salary of EUR 70.000 (annual, based on an All-in contract including bonus).
