An exciting opportunity to join Auckland’s leading bakery as Bakery Production Manager – Night Shift is now available. This senior position has been established to organise daily production, lead the team, and to ensure quality control.
Now into our 26th year and continuing to be a major player in the Auckland bread scene, Wild Wheat operates six retail stores, an impressive portfolio of more than 250 wholesale customers and boasts supplier partnerships with premium grocery outlet Farro and meal kit service My Food Bag.
Andrew Fearnside, founder and Head Baker, has built Wild Wheat with a health-based approach of ‘good food that is good for you.’ Famous for our sourdough products, we continue to test the boundaries and supply Aucklanders with the best sourdough and baked products in the country.
Our product is at the forefront of what we do, and there is no better example of this than Andrew being on the bakery floor daily kneading, shaping, and baking.
We are now looking for an experienced leader to become the new Bakery Production Manager – Night Shift. This senior role will be focused on driving the night team. You will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Artisan baker, and will share your own expertise to ensure that quality is always at the forefront of what we do. You will have the ability to teach and develop, while running the shift. You will have a strong time management foundation combined with excellent communication skills.
The Bakery Production Manager’s main responsibilities are;
- Plan, organise, direct and run day-to-day operations of our predominantly sourdough-based bread products, to ensure optimum production performance.
- Mixing, shaping and baking to ensure quality control at every step.
- Lead, motivate, and support the team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including induction, training and development.
- Lead, deliver, monitor and enforce Health and Safety and Food Safety protocols and projects.
We are looking for a senior leader to be the shift manager. While strong structures are in place that define the quality of our product, we require the ideal candidate to lead from the front. This isn’t an office job, nor is it admin heavy. You will be working alongside your team in the dough.
The ideal candidate will have a broad range of skills including:
- Team/culture building
- Systems implementation
- Health & Safety and Food Control Plan management
- Problem solving
- Strong oral and written communication
This full time (40 hours a week) senior position comes with a six-figure package. You will be based at 58 Ascot Road, Mangere and must be a NZ citizen or resident, or have the appropriate visa documentation if you wish to apply.
It’s never been a better time to join, and lend your expertise and knowledge to our famous bakery. Wild Wheat is looking to the future and to continue to grow for another 25+ years.
