Organizational Setting

The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements IAEA's Major Programme 2, "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection." This programme supports national capacities through nuclear and isotopic techniques across food, health, water, environment, and radiation technologies, with laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna.


Main Purpose

Under the Divisional Director, the Associate Programme Officer (NAHU) serves as the focal point for outreach activities, contributes to programme implementation, and monitors, reports, and provides analytical support on tasks.


Role

* Analyst: reviews, analyses, and collates information for media articles, brochures and other communications.
* Collaborator: works with technical experts, authors and stakeholders.
* Team member: maintains a divisional database and identifies suitable grants.


Functions / Key Results Expected

* Assist the team delivering programmatic activities for CRPs, conferences, and flagship initiatives.
* Identify and follow up suitable grants by screening professional online platforms and matching funding opportunities.
* Conduct non-scientific editing of grant write-ups, coordinate and contribute to IAEA cooperation agreements.
* Provide technical support to collaborations with other organisations and agencies, oversee renewals of Practical Arrangements, Collaborating Centre designations, and Memoranda of Understanding.
* Prepare, coordinate and quality-assure internal and external publications and mandatory reports.
* Maintain the NAHUNET divisional database, compile related information, and assist in data collection and validation.
* Coordinate outreach activities, conduct consultant meetings, arrange travel, and assemble background material.
* Draft standard and non-routine correspondence per corporate communications guidelines and support office coverage.

Required Expertise

* Administrative Support: Data and Information Analysis and Reporting – Experience in analysing background documentation and preparing summary reports.
* Publishing: Document Management – Identify need for revisions or new materials and develop communications for wide dissemination.
* Public Information & External Relations: Multimedia Production – Expertise in state‑of‑the‑art design and development of materials.


Qualifications, Experience And Language Skills

* Bachelor's Degree in management, social sciences, communications, international relations or relevant fields; Master’s degree is an asset.
* Minimum of two years developing and reviewing multimedia content and articles at national or international level.
* Experience in preparing scientific/technical manuscripts and advocacy materials.
* Experience coordinating quality publishing delivery.
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with internal and external counterparts in a multicultural environment.
* Excellent oral and written command of English; knowledge of other IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.


Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax‑free annual net base salary starting at US $56046 (subject to mandatory pension and health insurance deductions), a variable post adjustment of US $29200, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses. Other benefits include six weeks annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance. * Appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report.
* Staff may be assigned to any location.
* Appointments to the Professional and higher categories follow IAEA rotation policy; maximum tour of service usually seven years.
* The IAEA retains discretion regarding appointment grades, contract types and duration.
