We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaner to join our Environmental Services team. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment, ensuring the well‑being of patients, visitors, and staff. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the overall cleanliness and infection control within Yarrawonga Health.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitising:
* Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming, to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
* Disinfect and sanitize surfaces in patient rooms, common areas, and other designated areas.
Waste Management:
* Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables according to hospital protocols.
* Ensure proper handling of biohazardous materials.
Infection Control:
* Follow established infection control procedures to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital.
* Pay special attention to high‑touch surfaces and areas prone to contamination.
Collaboration:
* Work collaboratively with other members of the environmental services team to ensure a cohesive and efficient cleaning process.
* Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and staff regarding specific cleaning requirements.
Safety Compliance:
* Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
* Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor.
Key Selection Criteria
* Must be able to work all shifts, weekly, afternoon and weekends including public holidays
* Computer skills at a basic level;
* Understanding of confidentiality;
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills;
* Ability to work with a wide variety of people;
* Self‑motivated with a high level of communication and organisational skills demonstrated ability to work alone.
Desirable
* Previous experience in cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting.
* Knowledge of infection control practices and procedures.
* Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
Skills and Abilities
* Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.
