About the Role
The Therapeutic Program Coordinator leads the development, coordination, and evaluation of evidence‑based therapeutic programs across all Forensic Mental Health (FMH) services at Ravenhall Correctional Centre. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary stakeholders, the role ensures programs are delivered in ways that empower consumers and support meaningful, recovery‑focused outcomes.
This position plays a key part in creating a coordinated program pathway for consumers, strengthening program visibility, and championing co‑design and co‑production approaches.
As a leadership role, it includes guiding and supervising therapeutic program staff while driving the sustainable growth of therapeutic programs across Forensic Mental Health units.
Duties
* Lead and coordinate evidence‑based therapeutic programs across FMH units.
* Manage program schedules, staffing, and delivery to ensure consistent, recovery‑focused care.
* Strengthen consumer engagement through co‑design and trauma‑informed practice.
* Support staff capability, communication, and collaboration with clinical and custodial partners.
* Contribute to quality improvement, safe practice, documentation, and positive team culture.
About You
* Extensive clinical experience (minimum seven years) within a mental health setting, with the capability to work independently in complex and dynamic custodial environments.
* Demonstrated ability to apply trauma‑informed and recovery‑oriented principles to therapeutic engagement and program delivery.
* Proven capacity to undertake comprehensive assessments, formulate evidence‑based interventions and evaluate outcomes for consumers with complex mental health needs.
* Strong ability to research, interpret and integrate evidence‑based practice into therapeutic program design and implementation.
* Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, custodial partners and external services.
* Demonstrated capability in providing informal leadership, coordination and capability building to support staff involved in program delivery.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience
* This is a multidisciplinary opportunity and possession of a relevant tertiary qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate Board or Association as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist.
* The qualifications required for each discipline are:
Registered Nurse RPN4:
* Registered Psychiatric Nurse. Must have current unrestricted registration with AHPRA and a post‑graduate qualification in mental health nursing or equivalent.
* General registration with AHPRA.
* Masters or Doctorate qualifications (Clinical, Forensic or Neuropsychology).
* Eligibility for (or enrolled in) an Area of Practice Endorsement in clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology, and/or forensic psychology.
Social Worker Grade 3:
* Tertiary qualifications in Social Work coupled with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Occupational Therapist Grade 3:
* Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
* Approved degree in Occupational Therapy and recognised for membership of OT Australia – Australian Association of Occupational Therapists.
