We are currently looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal department in the Head Office.
Responsibilities
- Providing high quality legal support to the Global Procurement team
- Providing advice and participating in the evaluation of legal issues in technical projects (e.g. building of plants, plant expansions, plant maintenance works), including the proper set‑up of a project from a legal point of view
- Drafting and negotiating major project related contracts (such as EPCM/EPC contracts) and other engineering, construction and maintenance contracts as a core member of the project team
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts within the day‑to‑day business of procurement, i.e. sale and purchase agreements, supply agreements, services agreements, consultancy contracts, tolling agreements, consignment agreements, MoUs, etc.
- Providing legal support in the management of claims, disputes and litigation
- Updating/developing contract templates in cooperation with procurement
- Holding regular legal/ contract negotiation trainings to procurement
- Managing external lawyers
- Acting as the business’ legal sparring partner in all legal questions
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Law, bar exam (mandatory) and at least 5 years of experience
- Fluency and excellent contract drafting skills in English (Advanced proficiency in German is desired)
- Excellent knowledge of international contract and commercial law
- Relevant experience in a renowned international law firm or legal department of a global enterprise
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Good understanding of technical and commercial issues, understanding of IPR topics is a plus, but not a must
- Strong negotiation, project management and conflict resolution skills
- High problem‑solving competence and results‑orientation, good business judgement
- Ability to establish and maintain effective cross‑organizational and cross‑cultural relationships, ability to manage stakeholder involvement
- "Hands‑on" personality bringing great sense of responsibility/reliability, high level of commitment, dedication and social intelligence
- High degree of independence, ability to take decisions following the guidance of the line manager and taking into account business needs
- Ability to take ownership for the dedicated area of support and for the development of best practices
- Ability to work in a matrix organization, and follow internal procedures and guidelines
