Your future responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Head of Research Unit to lead high-quality, industry-relevant research into the miniaturisation of machine learning, signal processing algorithms, and related electronic sensor solutions.
Your Leadership responsibilities
* Lead and develop the Embedded Artificial Intelligence research unit within the Intelligent Wireless Systems Division, comprising approximately 14 scientists focusing on machine learning, signal processing, and neural network VLSI accelerators for various domains.
* Define long-term research strategies in electronic systems and the miniaturisation of algorithms into hardware.
* Shape the division's research program and manage project portfolios in collaboration with supervisors and peers.
* Collaborate with a diverse team of experts to find optimal solutions.
* Manage budgeting and resource planning for the research unit.
* Drive the research unit towards high-quality outputs, scientific excellence, and economic impact, fostering growth.
Your Scientific responsibilities
* Manage research projects with industrial and academic partners, including proposal development for funding at national and international levels.
* Support collaborative research efforts with academic and industrial partners.
* Develop miniaturised electronic hardware systems and architectures.
* Supervise BSc, MSc, and PhD students.
* Publish and present research findings at scientific journals, conferences, and events.
Your profile
* PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Applied Physics, Computer Engineering, or related fields, specialising in digital IC design for machine learning or signal processing.
* Minimum of 10 years practical experience in related areas.
* Proven team leadership experience of at least 5 years in industry or research.
* Leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and motivate young scientists and researchers.
* Strong scientific publication record and active networks in industry and academia.
* Good organisational skills and ability to work in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
* Excellent English communication skills; German is an advantage.
