Fiber Elements is an ambitious deep-tech start-up based in Leoben, Austria, founded in 2023 at the start-up center of Montanuniversität Leoben. We develop and produce advanced non-metallic reinforcement systems for the construction industry, with a strong focus on basalt-based materials and automated production technologies. Our mission is to bring smarter, more scalable and more sustainable manufacturing solutions into the future of construction.
We are growing fast and are looking for a Robotics & Automation Engineer who wants to do more than maintain systems - we are looking for someone who wants to build, improve and scale them.
In this role, you will play a key part in developing and optimizing our robotic production processes and automation landscape. You will work directly on the backbone of our manufacturing setup and help turn innovative materials technology into industrial reality.
Your impact As Robotics & Automation Engineer, you will help shape how our production systems evolve from advanced start-up operations into scalable industrial deployment. Your work will have a direct and visible impact on efficiency, process reliability, product quality and future growth.
What you will do Design, program and optimize automated production processes with a focus on industrial robotics
Develop and improve robotic applications, including systems such as KUKA
Support the control and integration of PLC-based automation systems
Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, stability and cycle times
Plan and implement preventive maintenance concepts for robotic production systems
Conduct testing, benchmarking and validation to continuously improve performance
Troubleshoot technical issues and solve automation-related process challenges
Train and support production teams in the operation and maintenance of robotic systems and control protocols
Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to help build the next generation of our automated production environment
What you bring Hands-on experience in programming and controlling industrial robotic systems
Solid know-how in PLC programming and industrial automation
Experience with robotic simulation tools
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and process documentation
Strong analytical thinking and a practical problem-solving mindset
A degree in Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Robotics or a related technical field
Fluent English; B1-level German is a plus
Nice to have Experience in composites, fiber-based materials, non-metallic reinforcement or construction-related manufacturing
Previous experience in a start-up, scale-up or fast-paced industrial innovation environment
