PhD Position “Data-Assisted Real-Time Simulations of Particulate Flows”

Responsibilities
* Research in the field of computational modeling of particulate multiscale and multiphysics flows
* Development of surrogate models (e.g., recurrence CFD) for real‑time simulations
* Contribution to digital process twins for industrial furnaces
* Addressing fundamental questions in data‑assisted modeling to reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions
* Collaboration within the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Data‑Assisted Simulations of Complex Flows
Qualifications
* Master’s degree in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Science, or a related field
* Solid background in classical simulation techniques (e.g., CFD, CFD‑DEM)
* Strong programming skills in at least one scientific computing language
* Interest in or willingness to learn deep learning or other data‑driven modeling methods
* Beneficial: Experience with machine learning frameworks and physics‑based simulations
* Experimental skills for validation experiments
* Willingness to conduct on‑site visits and talk to responsible people from development and production
* German language skills desirable
