Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
Ensures all payroll and time keeping processes provide accurate information for internal and external customers.
Ensures time-keeping systems function smoothly. Ensures leadership and support to ambassadors regarding
payroll functions.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Accurately processes payroll on a bi-weekly basis for the entire organization.
* Compiles and prepares other payroll data such as retirement fund and insurance payments.
* Reviews and approves payroll deductions, including garnishments, levies, and voluntary payroll
deductions.
* Designs and creates reports and statements using report writing software.
* Prepares pay vouchers for manual payments.
* Conducts training to new supervisors on how to use Payroll and Time & Attendance systems, and
understand Wage and Hour regulations.
* Maintains vacation schedule, and vacation and sick pay accrual systems.
* Prepares advance vacation vouchers and keeps track of them.
* Enters data by department and accounting code to the general ledger payroll summary systems.
* Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
* Keeps abreast of new and/or changes in Wage & Hour laws and regulations, and brings them to the
attention of the supervisor.
* Performs wage verifications of current and past employees.
* Reconciles 941s and W-3s to the general ledger quarterly and annually.
* Reconciles all payroll related balance sheet accounts monthly.
* Studies and standardizes procedures to improve payroll efficiency.
* Trains Payroll Specialist in all non-supervisory payroll processes and procedures to ensure a smooth
running and stable payroll system.
* Prepares monthly reconciliation of health, dental, life insurance, manual checks, retirement plan,
disability plan, and withholdings and requests checks for monthly payments.
* Assists in administering COBRA through a third party vendor.
* Keeps track of Boot World Program.
Payroll Supervisor
* Performs all required supervisory roles of the position, such as interviewing, hiring,
performance review, and disciplinary action if needed.
* Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed
Qualifications
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education:
Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school preferred.
Experience:
Minimum least three years related experience, with supervisory experience.
Computer Skills:
Computer skills. MS Office, internet, email. Experience working with Payroll, and Time &
Attendance systems.
Certificates & Licenses:
Valid California Drivers' License with driving record acceptable to Goodwill's insurance.
