Staff Scientist – Embedded AI (all genders)
Your future responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Team Lead to drive high-quality, industry-relevant research in machine learning, signal processing algorithms, and electronic sensor solutions.
* Lead a diverse team of 8–10 scientists within the Embedded Artificial Intelligence group of the Intelligent Wireless Systems Division, focusing on machine learning and signal processing across various domains and applications.
* Shape the research agenda and project portfolio in collaboration with team members, peers, and the Head of Research Unit.
* Drive innovative solutions through effective team leadership and expert coordination.
* Manage resource planning and allocation for the research team.
Your Scientific responsibilities
* Lead research projects with industrial and academic partners, including proposals for national and international funding.
* Support the team with long-term experience in relevant research fields.
* Supervise the team to generate high-quality research outputs, scientific excellence, and economic impact.
* Collaborate with academic and industrial partners in joint research projects.
* Supervise BSc, MSc, and PhD students.
* Publish and present research results in scientific journals, conferences, and relevant events.
Your profile
* PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Applied Physics, Computer Engineering, or related fields, with specialization in digital IC design for machine learning or signal processing.
* At least 6 years of practical experience in relevant areas.
* Proven team leadership experience of at least 3 years in industry or research.
* Strong interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate young scientists and researchers.
* Well-organized, adaptable to a dynamic and multicultural environment.
* Excellent English communication skills; German is an advantage.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA), occupational group G (G1 salary = EUR 5,546, paid 14 times a year). The actual salary depends on experience and qualifications, with a range between EUR 85,000 and EUR 120,000 annually, based on an All-in contract and bonus.
