Our region is currently experiencing significant developmental growth being located in SEQ's south western growth corridor and we are seeking an experienced individual who has a demonstrable track record of collaborating with stakeholders, and who has a keen eye for innovative and workable land use strategies that will help guide development across our region for years to come. Our small team has received industry recognition in the past for innovative and industry leading land use plans and policies.
About this opportunity
Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full-time Team Leader Development Assessment (Major Projects). This position will provide specialist knowledge and advice of a multi-disciplinary nature relating to town planning and related matters through assessment of complex development applications, assisting on planning appeals and legal matters, and negotiation and implementation of infrastructure agreements.
Additionally, you’ll also …
* Oversee Council's infrastructure charges levying (approximately $10 million+ per annum) and recovery programs.
* Act as the lead for negotiations, implementation, and monitoring of infrastructure agreements, preparing submissions to and liaising with the State Agencies on Development Applications, as required.
* Facilitate post-development compliance audits in conjunction with Council's Regulatory Services team.
* Develop strategies in planning that integrate with the broader framework of Council initiatives and actions, providing high-quality outcomes for the Region and its residents.
* Contribute to the preparation and review of all Branch reporting including operational plans, annual reporting, and budget submissions for senior officers and/or Council.
* Supervise, lead, mentor, and coach direct reports, continually reviewing systems and processes, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives in a customer-focused team culture – working as a senior member of a highly effective and motivated team.
About you…
* Tertiary Qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent recognized by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) and demonstrable experience gained through multiple appointments.
* Well-developed interpersonal and demonstrable leadership skills.
* Highly developed experience with effective communication across diverse clients, problem solving, delegation, report writing with research and coordination skills.
* Proven ability to provide expert guidance in a dynamic and politically sensitive environment.
* Ability to provide constructive feedback and critical evaluation of successes and failures.
