Head of Outpatient Unit for Research, Teaching and Practice (Senior Scientist)
Position
The Faculty of Physics at the University of Vienna is seeking a University Assistant (Postdoctoral Level) in the Mathematical Physics Group. This is a temporary position for 5 months to cover a leave of absence.
Responsibilities
* Conduct independent and collaborative research in theoretical or mathematical physics, ideally in areas such as higher‑spin gravity, conformal field theory or related topics.
* Engage actively in the scientific life of the group, including seminars and collaborations.
* Independently hold courses and examinations within the scope of the collective bargaining agreement.
* Supervise and support students where appropriate.
Qualifications
* A completed doctoral degree (PhD) in theoretical or mathematical physics.
* A strong track record of research excellence, demonstrated by publications in reputable international journals.
* Research expertise in one or more areas such as higher‑spin gravity, conformal field theory or closely related topics, aligning with the group focus.
* The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
* Very good communication skills in English.
