Director, Identity Verification Services Operations Section
The Identity and Biometrics Policy Branch helps protect Australians from identity crime, helps them recover if they are a victim, and supports Australia's transition to a digital economy. The branch operates the identity verification services which aim to strengthen identity resilience and to support the economy. In everything it does, the branch aims to be trusted, inclusive and collaborative. The Identity Verification Services Operations Section is responsible for the effective delivery of three identity verification and biometric capabilities: the Document Verification Service (DVS), the Face Verification Service (FVS) and the National Driver Licence Facial Recognition Solution (NDLFRS). The Identity Verification Services Operations Section is a large team that is expanding to be co-led by 2 Directors. This process aims to fill one of those positions. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in leading teams to deliver and maintain established ICT systems, while ensuring those systems are ready to respond to future challenges and support the delivery of whole of government digital identity and transformation efforts.
How you can help us make a difference
The successful candidate will work closely with senior executives, the Co-Director; a managed service provider who operates the systems; state, territory and Commonwealth agencies who support and use the systems; and large private sector organisations who rely on the systems for their business. They will be responsible for maintaining the operations of the services, the delivery of operational enhancements to the existing service offerings and supporting the operational activities in the Identity Verification Services Operations Section.

2. excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships that engage stakeholders across a variety of industries and governments, understanding risks and issues, and identifying solutions and supporting implementation
3. demonstrated leadership capability and program and contract management skills with the ability to set clear direction, think strategically, and manage competing priorities
4. excellent written and verbal skills in translating and presenting technical information into plain English for a variety of audiences
5. experience in working across complex multi-jurisdiction and multi-policy services environment to deliver effective outcomes for governments and private sector organisations.
It's desirable, but not essential, that the successful candidate demonstrate:
1. knowledge of the Australian Government's identity landscape including the identity verification services and the Australian Government Digital Identity System.
