Full‑time (40 hours per week) Research Group Leader in Cardiopulmonary Molecular Biology (m/f/x) at the Division of Pediatric Cardiology (Pediatric Heart Center Vienna), Medical University of Vienna. Start 01.10.2026, 3‑year contract.
Responsibilities
Lead a research group studying pulmonary vascular disease and heart failure, with translational therapeutic interventions including stem cells, RNA, and pharmacology. Establish a human umbilical cord stem cell program.
Profile
Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in cell/molecular biology or a related field; at least 5 high‑impact first/senior author publications; successful grant applications; strong project management; willingness to teach; excellent English language skills.
Mandatory basic biochemistry and molecular biology techniques (siRNA, qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA). Preferred experience with stem cell isolation and differentiation (iPS cells, mesenchymal stem/progenitor cells), primary SMCs, cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells, ChIP, immunohistochemistry, cloning, lentiviral shRNAi, and CRISPR/Cas9. Animal surgery experience with transaortic constriction, pulmonary artery banding, closed‑chest cardiac catheterization, organ harvest in rodents, and histological quantitative analysis is highly desired.

The minimum monthly salary (Uni‑KV, VerwGr. B1) is €6,009 gross (14× per year), with potential increases based on relevant previous experience and other salary components related to the specificities of the job.
