Overview
As part of the DireQT project, we are developing cutting‑edge solid‑state quantum system‑on‑chip solutions. We are looking for a motivated analog circuit designer to drive the development of key building blocks such as DACs, amplifiers, and photodetector readout circuits in advanced CMOS technologies toward innovative solutions for quantum applications.
Tasks
Research and develop innovative IC solutions for quantum sensor readout circuits.
Schematic and layout design of analogue circuits, such as DACs, switched‑capacitor amplifiers, current regulators, and photodetector readout circuits in CMOS technology (e.g., 28 nm process).
Verification and lab measurements of analog circuits; operation of measurement equipment.
Involved in demonstrator development.
Contribution to SAL’s high‑level research with scientific output.
Participation in conferences, co‑authoring scientific papers in high‑impact journals, and contributing to SAL’s scientific visibility.
Support in project acquisition, funding proposals, and project management under guidance.
Active scientific networking to strengthen SAL’s visibility and reputation.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience with schematic and layout circuit design tools.
Knowledge of analog design circuits such as ADC and DAC.
Strong knowledge of switched‑capacitor amplifiers, current regulators, photodetectors, and readout circuits.
Autonomous, self‑initiated, well‑organized, and enjoying working in a dynamic and multicultural team.
Professional communication skills in English; command of German is a plus.
Willingness to relocate to Villach, Austria.
Salary and Benefits
This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non‑university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group E. We offer competitive salaries based on your experience and qualifications. The minimum monthly salary is EUR 3 963,00, paid 14 times a year.
