The OSCE Secretariat in Vienna is seeking a Communications Officer to provide comprehensive communication support to the OSCE Chair and other stakeholders, with a focus on digital communications and social media management.
Responsibilities
* Engage with senior OSCE officials, communication staff within the OSCE Chair team, and Communication Focal Points across the organization.
* Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including delegation staff, media representatives, and the public.
* Develop visuals, stories, and messages, distributing them across a variety of communication channels.
* Manage the OSCE’s social media presence on a day‑to‑day basis, coordinating content publishing with multiple stakeholders.
* Collaborate with OSCE Secretariat programs, departments, and senior OSCE officials to create and deliver communication plans and products.
* Coordinate communications for events and conferences, ensuring consistent messaging across the organization.
* Act as the primary contact for media and public enquiries.
* Perform additional duties as required, including participation in a duty roster.
Qualifications
* Second‑level university degree in journalism, communications, political science, international affairs, or a related field (or a first‑level degree with two additional years of relevant experience).
* Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications (including social media, media relations, public relations and advocacy), preferably in an international organization, NGO or as a journalist.
* Proven ability to use political judgment and analytical skills to represent the organization’s activities and achievements to external audiences.
* Professional fluency in English, excellent oral and written communication skills; knowledge of an OSCE official language is desirable.
* Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.
* Ability and willingness to work as a member of a team with people of diverse cultural, religious and political backgrounds while maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
* Computer literacy with practical experience using Microsoft applications.
