Mergent Group is partnering with a leading communications and technology provider to recruit an experienced Team Leader – Engineering based in South Australia.
This is a hands‑on leadership role overseeing a high-performing engineering team responsible for delivering complex wired and wireless communication systems across major projects. You’ll combine technical expertise with team management, resource planning, and project oversight to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality engineering delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers delivering communications infrastructure projects.
* Oversee end‑to‑end engineering design, development, procurement, testing, and commissioning.
* Manage engineering resources, priorities, and workloads across multiple concurrent projects.
* Review and approve technical documentation, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with Australian Standards.
* Drive collaboration across project management, operations, logistics, and technical support.>
* Conduct design reviews and Safety in Design assessments to mitigate risks.
* Provide technical input for tenders, proposals, and project estimates.
* Support training, coaching, and succession planning within the engineering team.
* Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
* Attend site visits to provide technical guidance and ensure smooth project delivery.
About You
* Bachelor’s degree in communications, Electrical, or Telecommunications Engineering (or similar).
* 15+ years’ experience in professional engineering roles, including 5+ years in leadership.
* Proven background in telecommunications, mining, oil & gas, or defence industries.
* Strong technical understanding of communications and electrical systems.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
