About the role
We are looking for a Maintenance Officer who has experience operating plant and equipment safely including ride on mower, push mower, whipper snipper, leaf blower, edger and heading equipment. This position will assist with various duties, which include general handyman and property and yard maintenance across the Brisbane, Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast regions. You will be a member of a maintenance team led by an experienced Maintenance Manager and will provide services across our 26 properties. This role works a 9-day fortnight with either a Monday or Friday off every second week!
Skills and experience
1. Maintain grass and plant areas by mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and edging walkways.
2. Remove weeds from flower beds and garden areas and apply mulch as necessary.
3. Water plants, trees, and grass and apply fertilizers to promote growth.
4. Plant new flowers, trees, or shrubs and assist in landscaping projects as needed.
5. Clear leaves, debris, and other waste from pathways, lawns, and outdoor areas and remove rubbish.
6. Perform minor repairs to outdoor furniture, fences, gates and other yard fixtures.
7. Paint or seal fences, decks, or other outdoor surfaces to protect them from weather damage.
8. Maintain and repair landscaping equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and blowers.
9. Clean outdoor surfaces, including sidewalks, driveways, and building exteriors.
10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced work environment.
11. Other minor maintenance repairs as required.
12. Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills and the capacity to deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
13. Reasonable degree of physical strength and fitness.
14. A minimum of one year working in a similar environment.
15. A relevant tertiary certificate in a related field (desirable) and/or equivalent experience.
16. Have high work standards.
17. Hold a current ‘C’ class driver’s license.
18. Hold, or be eligible to apply for, a Blue Card issued by the Queensland Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian.
19. Hold, or be eligible to apply for an Application for Suitability Check by the Queensland Department of Child Safety.
