Purpose
Reporting to the Coordinator of the Multilingual Output Production Team, the Assistant proofreads, formats and disseminates content in Chinese for IAEA programs.
Key Responsibilities
 * Proofread Chinese content in line with quality control guidelines, checking spelling, punctuation, grammar, syntax and completeness.
 * Archive and disseminate finalized content following established processes.
 * Compile and process content, including Policy-Making Organs documents, correspondence, web articles, publications and advocacy materials.
 * Check and format content, including tables and figures, ensuring accurate presentation.
 * Carry out additional duties as required, such as aligning translated texts, transcribing statements, preparing files for translation software, and providing backup.
 * Suggest improvements to work practices, participate in discussions to implement new practices and workflows, and keep abreast of new technology.
 * In coordination with the Terminology Focal Point, maintain the central terminology database.
 * Under supervision, process large and complex documents for IAEA Policy-Making Organs.
 * Under supervision, train and guide freelancers and other assistants.
 * Assist in identifying and addressing software-related problems.

 * Excellent oral and written command of Chinese and English; proficiency in other UN languages is an asset.
Required Expertise
 * Language and Conference Services: Editing and Proofreading – processing and proofreading Chinese texts with speed and accuracy.
 * Administrative Support – proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Asset Expertise
 * Translation Support Tools – knowledge of specialized translation software.
 * Writing and Translation Support – knowledge of translation process steps.
Qualifications
 * Completed secondary education.
 * Minimum five years of relevant working experience; experience in proofreading and layout tasks is essential.
 * Perfect command of Chinese as mother tongue or principal language of education.
 * Advanced knowledge of English; ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
 * Knowledge of other UN languages (Arabic, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
Remuneration
Tax‑free annual net base salary starting at EUR 57,876, 6 weeks’ annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance. More information at https://www.iaea.org/about/employment/general-service-staff.
