If you're passionate about data and want to help shape the future of aviation, Jetstar's Data, Analytics & Automation team is looking for an experienced and technically minded Data Business Analyst. This is a hands‑on role supporting our Data Engineering and Data Warehousing chapters, enabling the delivery of high‑impact data products and capabilities to our federated domain squads.
As a Data Business Analyst, you'll work closely with both technical and business teams to translate requirements into actionable documentation, reusable templates, and clear backlog items. You'll manage intake and triage, ensure backlog readiness, and bring business analysis rigor to technical delivery‑enabling data‑driven decision‑making and supporting Jetstar's strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Business requirements & discovery, leading requirements gathering for Hub initiatives, facilitating discovery sessions and translating business needs into actionable specifications.
* Data lineage and interface documentation; document data movement through the organization with data lineage maps, system interface specifications, and process flows.
* Manage intake for Hub initiatives, assess requests for scope and complexity, and ensure backlog items meet Definition of Ready before sprint planning; create and maintain documentation standards, templates, and reusable patterns.
* Build a central repository of guidelines and best practices, documentation templates, knowledge repository, onboarding materials.
* Build relationships across Hub chapters and domain squads; act as a bridge between technical and business stakeholders, facilitating workshops and maintaining alignment.
* Coordinate across teams, facilitate workshops, and maintain communication channels.
Qualifications
* 5+ years' experience as a Data Business Analyst in Data Engineering or Data Warehousing environments.
* Strong SQL skills for data discovery, validation, and troubleshooting.
* Experience capturing and documenting requirements for both technical and business stakeholders.
* Experience with agile delivery, backlog management, and Definition of Ready.
* Strong documentation skills with the ability to create clear, reusable artifacts.
* Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks or similar).
* Experience with BI and visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI).
* Tertiary degree or equivalent experience in a highly analytical discipline (e.g., computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics or related quantitative field) highly desirable.
* Professional cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and ITIL Expert or similar advanced service management certification preferred.
