* 10 hours per week
Job Description:
* Technical planning, organisation and supervision of field research projects of the Institute of Archaeology (teaching and research excavations, prospections) in Austria and abroad; local supervision of field work and implementation of surveying and documentation of findings
* Preparation of documentation according to the latest standards and in accordance with the guidelines of the monument protection authorities (e.g.: Federal Monuments Office in Austria); preparation of excavation and survey reports; administration and archiving of excavation documentation
* Collaboration in the further development and specialised training in the field of excavation and documentation technology as well as occupational safety
* Coordination of the issue, use and maintenance of the prospection, excavation and surveying equipment of the Institute of Archaeology
Your profile:
* Completed Bachelor's degree in an archaeological subject or equivalent qualification
* Experience in carrying out archaeological field research projects, i.e. educational and research excavations as well as geophysical prospections (georadar, geomagnetics) of different periods in Germany and abroad
* Excellent knowledge of modern excavation, surveying (tachymetry and GPS) and documentation technology (digital photography, photogrammetry, 3D modelling, structure from motion methods, drone photography, etc.)
* Excellent knowledge of creating plans using the necessary software (GIS, QGIS, CAD programmes) or image processing programmes (Photoshop, Illustrator, Metashape, Blender)
* Experience in managing and archiving the findings data collected in the field in databases (Excel, Access, Filemaker, SPSS)
* Willingness to spend several weeks excavating in Germany and abroad and to concentrate work in the summer‑autumn period
* Physical aptitude for working on construction sites in changing weather conditions
* Basic knowledge of the specific labour law protection regulations
* B driving licence and willingness to drive a company car
* Interest in current professional and technological developments in the excavation and documentation sector; willingness to undergo regular specialist training and further education
* Ability to work independently, in a structured, flexible and responsible manner
* Strong organisational and coordination skills
For this position in job group IIIb, a minimum gross salary of € 783 per month (14 times) * is stipulated in the collective agreement. Your actual starting salary will depend on your previous experience and will increase over the course of your employment.
