Organizational Setting
The Division of Information Technology provides support to the IAEA in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), including information systems for technical programmes and management. It is responsible for planning, developing and implementing an ICT strategy, for setting and enforcing common ICT standards throughout the Secretariat and for managing central ICT services. The IAEA's ICT infrastructure comprises hardware and software platforms, and cloud and externally-hosted services. The Division has implemented an IT service management model based on ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) and Prince2 (Projects in a Controlled Environment) best practices.
The Infrastructure Services Section (ISS) is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and administering the ICT systems and services for high availability; designing, implementing, and operating IT security services; and managing the data centre. The platforms include Microsoft Windows servers, Linux servers, Oracle EBS infrastructure, data storage, and transmission networks, serving more than 2500 staff, as well as over 10000 external users around the world. The Section includes three Units: Network and Telecommunications, Enterprise Systems, and Security Systems.
Main Purpose
The purpose of the consultancy is to provide technical advice and expertise to support core Database services and to aid with planning and migrations of related legacy services to modern platforms.
The consultant will be serving as a Database Administrator and will provide technical expertise with regards Database platforms heavily focused on Microsoft SQL, its associated components, development and maintenance of standards.
Functions / Key Results Expected
* The consultant will provide technical in to support core Database services with the following duties:
* Review the current Database Services deployment and standards for on-premises and cloud environments.
* Ensure all Database standards documentation is up to date and published; develop missing documentation as required.
* Support major migration projects including SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS and Power BI related.
* Work as part of a team to develop a strategy and standards for the hybrid Database offerings to clients.
* Work as part of the Architecture team as a Database expert to review and develop a robust architecture for Database services.
* Review Database Administration processes and provide suggests for improvements. Identify processes that can be automated and implement automation where possible using the IAEA standard automation stack.
* Review all Database services, work with relevant teams and departments to identify data owners, develop a method for tagging data ownership so that it can be used by automation platforms or for reporting purposes.
* Support the implementation and development of comprehensive monitoring and alerting for Microsoft SQL based solutions.
* Coordinate with relevant team members to ensure that all documentation related to the relevant ISO27001 standard and standard operating procedures are up to date.
* Support operational requirements as necessary, ensure all Database services run efficiently and meet the organizations security requirements.
* Provide expert guidance to clients on IAEA Database service standards.

Qualifications and Experience
University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, IT Security, Engineering or related field.
7 years of experience in IT operations with a primary focus on Database Services
Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, Design, Implementation, Configuration and Administration.
Experience with complex migrations and updates of Database Services.
Experience troubleshooting complex problems working across teams understanding interactions between Database services and related applications.
Remuneration
The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 375, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
