Role Purpose
The Farmer Trader is responsible for originating and sourcing agricultural commodities directly from Slovak farmers, cooperatives, and producer groups. The role combines field presence, relationship management, and trading execution to secure competitive supply and profitable trades.
Key Responsibilities
Farmer Origination & Relationships
* Build and maintain long-term relationships with farmers, cooperatives, and local collectors in Slovakia
* Originate spot and forward contracts directly from producers
* Act as trusted commercial partner for farmers
Trading & Market Execution
* Source physical volumes in line with trading strategy
* Monitor local crop conditions, yields, and pricing
* Support pricing, hedging, and margin management with the trading desk
Market Intelligence
* Collect real-time intelligence on weather, yields, quality, and farmer sentiment
* Identify origination and arbitrage opportunities
Contracts, Logistics & Compliance
* Negotiate contracts (Incoterms, quality, delivery windows)
* Coordinate with logistics and operations teams
* Ensure compliance with internal procedures and local regulations
Requirements
* 3-8+ years experience in agricultural origination or trading
* Strong network among Slovak farmers / cooperatives
* Solid understanding of grains and oilseeds (wheat, corn, barley, rapeseed)
* Fluent Slovak; working English required
* Willingness to travel extensively; valid driving licence
