Your mission
Your mission As an Operations & Customer Service Specialist (m/f/d) your mission is to ensure the smooth operation of current and new airfreight business by managing transport processes, maintaining clear communication with customers and partners, ensuring data accuracy, and upholding compliance and continuous improvement.
Daily Airfreight Operations
* Manage the complete transport process including customs clearance independently.
* Communicate effectively with customers, third-party logistics providers such as trucking companies, airlines, customs authorities, and other Glovis offices worldwide.
* Ensure accurate and timely data entry, billing, reporting and status tracking.
Compliance & Reporting
* Support and inform supervisors of any irregularities, customer complaints, or unusual incidents.
* Responsible for data management and reporting within airfreight operations.
* Ensure compliance with all internal and external regulations and laws (e.g., aviation security, customs law, working hours legislation, IATA DGR).
Development of Airfreight Business
* Demonstrate a strong understanding of airfreight process flows and take ownership of managing these processes efficiently.
* Continuously identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
* Comply and maintain customer-specific and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, airlines, trucking companies, and warehouse agents.
* Actively contribute to customer retention and support the acquisition and successful onboarding of new customers.
* Assist the team in handling new customer inquiries and business development activities.
Team Coordination & Collaboration
* Organize and coordinate within the airfreight team to foster a positive working environment and ensure strong business performance.
* Proactively evaluate and suggest options to reduce direct costs (e.g., airline and trucking rates) and increase productivity (e.g., shipments per FTE).
* Respond promptly to emails and requests from customers and Glovis colleagues.
* Collaborate closely with the team to efficiently manage workloads during peak periods or staff absences.
* Share knowledge and expertise to support team development.
* Continuously enhance proficiency in the Glovis Transport Management System.
Your profile
* Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, or equivalent professional experience
* Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in airfreight operations
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Proven ability to implement and manage projects effectively
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams
* Commercial mindset with a strong focus on results and quality
* Fluent in both English and German, spoken and written
* Proficient in MS Office and general IT tools
* Basic customs knowledge is an advantage
* Valid DGR certification is a plus
