Century Engineering is looking for a technically capable Project Planner to support fabrication and manufacturing projects across major Australian industries including mining, infrastructure, power, water, and defence.
This is a hands‑on planning role suited to someone who understands manufacturing environments, can interpret engineering drawings confidently, and knows how to turn project requirements into practical production plans that work on the workshop floor.
You’ll work closely with Estimating, Design, Procurement, Project Management, and Production teams to ensure jobs are fully planned, materials are ready, schedules are achievable, and production runs efficiently.
If you enjoy solving problems, improving workflow, and being the person who keeps projects moving before issues hit production, this role offers genuine ownership and long‑term opportunity.
What You’ll Be Doing
Production & Project Planning
* Review sales orders, engineering drawings, and project documentation to determine manufacturing requirements
* Create and maintain work orders, BOMs, and production schedules within the M1 ERP/MRP system
* Plan work order sequences and manufacturing processes efficiently
* Ensure all materials, drawings, subcontract items, and documentation are prepared before release to production
Technical Coordination
* Work closely with Estimating, Project Management, Design, and Production teams to resolve technical and planning issues
* Prepare complete and accurate work packs for workshop execution
* Add detailed manufacturing notes and supporting documentation to eliminate ambiguity on the shop floor
* Coordinate welding documentation and ensure production requirements are clearly communicated
* Review supplier quotes against technical and delivery requirements
* Raise and manage purchase orders within the ERP/MRP system
* Monitor supplier performance and follow up on delivery schedules
* Manage supplier non‑conformance issues where required
Scheduling & Workflow Management
* Monitor project progress and workshop capacity
* Adjust schedules based on material availability, fabrication complexity, and production priorities
* Communicate risks, delays, and scheduling impacts proactively across departments
* Support continuous improvement in planning processes and production efficiency
About You
You’re organised, technically minded, and understand how fabrication and manufacturing projects operate in the real world.
You can interpret drawings, think ahead, manage competing priorities, and build production plans that support both quality outcomes and efficient workshop execution.
* Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, engineering, or production planning environments
* Strong organisational and planning capability
* Ability to interpret engineering or fabrication drawings
* Experience managing production schedules, workflows, or project coordination
* Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple departments
Highly Regarded
* Experience with M1 or similar ERP/MRP systems
* Fabrication, welding, or heavy manufacturing knowledge
* Experience within complex project or industrial manufacturing environments
Why Join Century Engineering?
* Stable full‑time permanent role within a growing Australian engineering company
* Work on technically interesting and varied projects
* Supportive and collaborative team environment
* Opportunity to take ownership and contribute to process improvements
* Career development opportunities across the wider Century Group
* Strong pipeline of long‑term work across multiple industries
