About the Opportunity
Join the SSN AUKUS Build Program as a Senior Project Accountant – Cost and Estimating, where you’ll lead the development of direct and indirect estimates that support internal decision-making and external submissions to the Australian Submarine Agency. This is a business-partnering role requiring strong analytical skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of estimators while engaging with stakeholders across the business.
Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver internal and external estimates using appropriate cost estimating techniques
* Ensure correct application of pricing terms and conditions (e.g. indexation, forex, profit)
* Partner with stakeholders to ensure estimates are accurate, relevant, and well-documented
* Lead the estimating aspect of bids and ensure adherence to governance and process
* Support negotiations and queries from the Commonwealth
* Drive continuous improvement in estimating capability and tools
* Manage and develop a team of estimators, setting clear expectations and supporting growth
* Contribute to organisational change and culture initiatives
Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.
About You
* Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Accounting
* Full or part membership in ASCPA, ICA, CIMA or equivalent
* Experience in financial management and cost estimating
* Advanced Excel and Power BI skills
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Proactive and solutions-focused with strong time management
* Experience with Primavera P6 (desirable)
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
