JOB SUMMARY
The Capital Stress testing team forms an integral part of the capital adequacy assessment process. The team conducts balance sheet and income statement analysis to come up with projections for Equity, CET1 and other levels of capital, thereby helping to determine the capital cushion under various scenarios including economically stressed ones. At a PLC level, stress testing exercises are conducted for BoE, ICAAP. Stress testing exercise is also carried out or supported for where the Bank has considerable footprint.
The position is an individual contributor role focused on understanding concepts, analyzing data, presenting findings to the leadership team, performing model execution and data extraction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Deliver Balance Sheet & Income Statement projections for Enterprise‑wide Stress Testing (EWST) exercises.
* Carry out movement analysis and narratives for BS/PnL metrics.
* Analyze capital numbers including CET1, total capital and compare against Basel and regulatory requirements.
* Ensure compliance to EWST procedures, methodologies, and controls.
* Manage governance aspects of stress testing execution.
* Drive process improvements and best practices for greater efficiency.
* Support development and maintenance of underlying models.
* Deliver documentation on stress testing methodology for management, model validation, audit and regulatory scrutiny.
* Support the operational risk framework for the stress test process.
* Ensure activities adhere to the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and regulatory expectations.
* Document all processes and controls in line with the broader stress testing team.
* Challenge colleagues effectively, escalates appropriately, and collaborates openly within the team.
* Live by the bank’s values and code of conduct and embed highest ethical standards across the organization.
BUSINESS CONTEXT
* Stress Testing is an independent group function responsible for projecting financials and capital/liquidity ratios.
* Internal Stress Tests: ICAAP, MST, etc.
* Regulatory Stress Tests: HKMA SDST, MAS Stress Test, BOE Stress Test, BOT Stress Test, Reverse Stress Tests.
* Climate Risk Stress Tests: analysis of climate change impact on banking.
* Digitisation initiatives: design, prototype and implement strategic change to increase efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
* CA or graduate level with MBA in Finance from a reputable institution.
* Good understanding of balance sheet/income statement accounting and/or credit risk concepts.
* Knowledge of Basel standards and IFRS9.
* Strong inclination to learn more about stress testing/regulatory reporting.
* Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
* Understanding of AGILE methodology.
