Organizational Setting
The Department of Safeguards ensures compliance with nuclear non-proliferation agreements through inspections, data analysis, and verification activities worldwide.
Main Purpose
The P4 Inspector will participate in safeguards activities, supervise verification operations, and act as a facility or country officer, depending on assignment.
Role and Responsibilities
* Lead verification and analytical work at nuclear sites and in-country evaluations.
* Verify nuclear material accountancy, conduct complementary access, and sample collection.
* Maintain and calibrate surveillance equipment.
* Develop and review safeguards approaches and reports.
* Coordinate safeguards activities at designated facilities and countries.
* Mentor less experienced inspectors and represent the department in meetings.
Requirements
* Master’s Degree in relevant scientific or technical field; Bachelor’s with additional experience considered.
* At least 7 years in nuclear or verification fields, including 3 years in safeguards.
* Experience leading teams and working independently.
* Excellent command of English; knowledge of other IAEA languages is an asset.
