Assistant Professorship (all genders) - Tenure Track Digital Fabrication of Structures and Systems
TAU Wien (Vienna) is Austria's largest research and educational institution in the field of technology and natural sciences. With over 26,000 students and more than 4,000 scientists, it has been advancing science and technology for more than 200 years.
Position: 40 hours/week, expected start October 2026. The tenure‑track position is initially limited to six years; after positive tenure evaluation, it may be extended to an Associate Professor with an unlimited contract. The post is affiliated with the Center of Digital Fabrication of Structures and Systems at the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
The center focuses on additive manufacturing, human‑robot collaboration, design for assembly and disassembly, and uses a newly equipped laboratory with industrial robotics.
Tasks
Research:
Innovative ideas in structural engineering
A holistically integrated approach to digital fabrication from planning to production in collaboration with other research areas of the center
Testing novel structures and systems for functionality
Further development of digital fabrication in construction
Internationally competitive research in digital fabrication
Building an internationally visible research profile in digital fabrication in construction
Teaching:
Develop and deliver teaching in digital fabrication and robotics, including supervising final theses
Organisation and administration:
Manage the Center for Digital Fabrication of Structures and Systems
Participate in university committees
Your profile:
PhD or equivalent in a relevant field
Proven expertise in structural engineering and initial experience in digital fabrication of innovative structures and systems
