EB Research Institute GmbH is a non-profit biotech research institute based in Salzburg, Austria, founded as a joint venture between DEBRA Austria and Salzburg University Hospital. The institute is dedicated to translational research and development with the goal of improving the quality of life of children affected by Epidermolysis bullosa (“butterfly children”).
To support our operational activities, we are seeking a Finance, HR & Admin Associate who will take responsibility for finance, human resources, and administrative functions within a dynamic, research-driven environment.

Your Role – Finance, HR & Operations Impact
Finance & Budget Ownership
End-to-end accounting responsibility, including invoice processing, transaction coding, system uploads and travel expense management
Treasury & cash management, owning weekly payment runs and coordinating approval workflows
Procurement governance for external services, supplies and scientific equipment
Financial monitoring & reporting, delivering transparent insights to the Lab Director and senior leadership
Cost control & optimization, proactively identifying savings while safeguarding research quality
Financial performance analysis and structured reporting
Grant budget management, ensuring compliance with sponsor requirements and accurate fund allocation
Human Resources Leadership
Recruitment & onboarding ownership for lab and administrative staff, from job postings to first-day readiness
Training & development coordination, partnering with the Managing Director to identify needs and track progress
Performance management support, enabling structured feedback and continuous improvement
Payroll & benefits interface, serving as the main contact for employees and the external payroll provider (LeitnerLeitner)
HR compliance, ensuring adherence to labour law, health & safety standards and internal policies
Administration & Strategic Support
Close collaboration with leadership and research teams to ensure efficient use of financial and human resources
Executive support to the Managing Director, including travel coordination and expense handling
Policy development support across HR and budgeting in line with regulatory requirements
Project-based contributions, supporting special initiatives and organizational development
Your skills and experience:
Professional Background & Education
Completed education at Business School (HAK) or a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or a related field
5–10 years of professional experience across accounting, HR and administration
Experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical or R&D environment is a strong advantage
Core Expertise – Finance & HR (Mandatory)
Solid financial management skills, including accounting, budgeting, financial analysis and cost control
Sound HR expertise, with practical knowledge of recruitment processes, HR policies and labour law
Proven ability to manage budgets, payroll and employee data with the highest level of accuracy and confidentiality
Experience in both fields – Finance AND HR – is essential
Language Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
Fluent German and English, both written and spoken, are strictly required for this role

Salary: We offer a minimum monthly salary of € 3,000 gross for 40 hours per week, with a willingness to pay more depending on experience and qualifications
