Job Overview As Lead Image Quality Engineer (f/m/d), you are responsible for the engineering ownership of image quality related developments and integrations on our Voluson Ultrasound products in the fields of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Breast application. You ensure that imaging technologies are optimally integrated, tuned, and released to deliver technically robust, clinically meaningful, and aesthetically excellent image quality. You act as a key interface between engineering, clinical experts, and customers, ensuring image quality meets clinical and market expectations.
Key Responsibilities Drive technical leadership for projects advancing next‑generation image quality, developing and integrating new state‑of‑the‑art technologies from concept evaluation to feature‑ready product integration.
Application and fine‑tuning of image quality settings parameters including signal processing and advanced computer vision filters to achieve the optimal balance between technical performance, clinical relevance and visual/aesthetic perception.
Act as technical decision driver for new imaging algorithm developments with clear ownership of their impact on clinical image quality.
Advanced image quality tuning with respect to ultrasound probe characteristics such as frequency range, bandwidth, geometry, and acoustic performance through a strong hands‑on self‑scanning and volunteer scanning focus.
Creative thinker with a strong sense for visual perception, capable of designing and shaping new image impressions and image quality concepts for visual and clinical impact.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional engineering teams, including software, advanced technology or acoustics during product development by providing detailed image quality feedback, tuning requirements, and system integration constraints.
Serve as a close interface to our clinical and product teams, aligning image quality performance towards clinical use cases and external evaluation feedback.
Support clinical evaluations (internal/external), visit global key‑opinion leaders/customers and translate their feedback into actionable image quality enhancements.
Support existing products in collaboration with our Clinical and Service teams by addressing critical install base customer feedback and incorporating needed image quality improvements.
Profile & Qualifications University degree in Medical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
Expertise in ultrasound imaging or related field.
Ability to systematically analyze clinical feedback (internal and external) and translate it into technical improvements.
Proven project management skills within an engineering environment.
Strong sense for visual perception, image aesthetics, and attention to detail.
Excellent ability to collaborate across disciplines (software, acoustics, advanced technology, clinical, product).
Experience acting as a central interface between engineering, product management, and customers.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Confident and professional presence during customer visits and events.
Excellent communication skills in English; German language skills desired.
Availability for occasional business travel (1–2 meetings per month).
