Overview
We are excited to announce a new PhD position at the Eating Behavior lab, hosted at the Paris-Lodron-University Salzburg. As part of the project "Force4Change: Manipulating response effort to modify diet", you will investigate whether real-life eating behavior can be modified with reaction-time tasks that manipulate response effort to favor certain responses over others. You will test your participants using novel research technologies such as with the accelerometer of their mobile phones, and with the robotic arms of the KINARM End-Point Lab. Through this line of research you will enable individuals to control their food intake in ways never seen before.
Qualifications
A master7s degree in psychology, cognitive science, or neuroscience
An interest in eating behavior and creative experimental research
A good command of the English language; proficiency in German is a plus
Good understanding of statistics and proficiency with the statistical programming language R
Duration, team, and location
This is a fully funded PhD position for 3 years, with a 40 hour working week. You will be supervised by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jens Blechert who leads the lab and has is an expert in control of eating behavior, and you will work closely with Dr. Sercan Kahveci who specializes in modifying eating behavior through reaction time tasks. You will live and work in the beautiful city of Salzburg, with its rich history and stunning nature.
What you can expect to do
Designing, programming, and optimizing experimental paradigms
Supervising lab experiments conducted by your Bachelor and Master students
Conducting a longitudinal study using ecological momentary assessment on the mobile phone
Fitting statistical models to your data, such as multilevel regression
Collaborating closely with researchers and external parties in Salzburg and beyond
Disseminating your findings through scientific articles and conferences
