The Theory Group at the Marietta Blau Institute of Particle Physics (MBI, formerly HEPHY) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position on Dark Matter Theory and Physics beyond the Standard Model (full-time, 40 hours per week).
The position is available for an initial duration of two years, starting in Fall 2026. We invite applications in all areas of theoretical particle physics, particularly from candidates with a strong background in astroparticle theory and particle phenomenology. The position is within the research group of Josef Pradler. The successful candidate will work individually as well as collaboratively on topics in theoretical particle and astroparticle physics, with a particular focus on dark matter phenomenology, including laboratory detection, early‑Universe cosmology, and astrophysical aspects, among other areas.
The Marietta Blau Institute of Particle Physics (MBI, formerly HEPHY) is Austria’s leading non‑university research institute for particle physics. It conducts a broad experimental program, participating in both accelerator‑ and non‑accelerator‑based experiments. The institute plays major roles in CMS at CERN, the Belle II experiment at KEK, and several dark‑matter search experiments. Theory and machine‑learning groups complement and complete the institute’s research profile.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis (First rolling deadline December 19, 2025) and must be submitted through https://oeawnr.onlyfy.jobs/job/h8j555r6.
In addition, three letters of reference should be sent directly by the referees to mbi-office@oeaw.ac.at.
